Shewings Elements: Painting
Painting: A field where emergent images surface through intuitive, symbolic, and geometric forms
Painting unfolds as a field of relation and becoming, rather than a fixed medium or form; it participates in the movement of meaning, the transformation of matter, and the surfacing of the unseen. Drawings, collages, prints, and mixed media sit within Painting within Shewings and they take many forms: from raw intuitive marks and cosmic landscapes to geometric structures, figurative images, and interface-like diagrams.
Each work arises through psychic, somatic, and imaginal processes; mapping the soul’s unfolding through image and form.
Painting arises through psychic, imaginal, somatic, and relational processes: generating emergent configurations across varying registers. Some paintings surface from felt psychic currents: lines, colours, and configurations shaping nascent patterns not yet consciously elaborated. Others articulate aspects of the imaginal through diagrammatic and geometric structures, mapping inner terrains and relational logics. Certain works serve as interfaces: orienting constellations by temporarily holding relations between dispersed elements. Across these variations, painting functions as fragment, diagram, symbol, threshold, and constellation within the evolving field.
